About

My name is Abraham, and I am an IT networking guy based out of San Antonio, TX. I was born and raised in Texas, although I never really got accustomed to the weather here, or the cowboy life in general. Ironically, Westerns are a favorite indulgence of mine when it comes to watching movies. Did I mention I like watching movies? Sorry, ahem, *films*.

I studied at the very place I work at now, the University of Texas at San Antonio, where I majored in Computer Science. I wanted to pursue a career in computer programming, but later I found out that’s a job gone with the wind. Seriously though, I was really interested in a niche field called systems programming, which in itself involves the kernel (think Windows or Linux), hardware and virtual resources control, and file management. Unfortunately the apogee of this field was over a decade ago. Who would’ve thought I’d be so interest in permission bits or process states? Anyways, the angst caused by AI within the tech industry has definitely misplaced us CS degree holders, but frankly, I always wanted more to life than just computers and laboring mindlessly.

While I do work in IT and enjoy it modestly, I am not sure how I’d answer the question: “Where do you see yourself in 5 years?”

From a young age I had an affinity for understanding complex subjects, and consequently I’ve had many hobbies and interests over the years. Particularly, obsolete computers and electronics have been of great fun (and stress) to me. I have also dug into topics of humanities and material sciences, including literature, chemistry, history, philosophy, and film. In almost all these subjects I have enjoyed extrapolating knowledge primarily via books. Although I don’t read novels often, I do own a formidable selection of textbooks, some which I’ve had to let go due to space constraints 🙁

I also think video games are awesome, and I own quite a bit of them.

Like any other decent human being, I listen to music. There’s too much I like, for a few exceptions, but generally I consider myself to have open-minded ears. I intend to dedicate a section to music as there is quite a bit to talk about!

I’ve also been really interested in writing for a while. Since high school I’ve worked on writing whatever comes to mind, mostly personal stuff. In my senior year of high school I did write some movie/short scripts, one of which was fatefully submitted to USC and published on YT (iykyk). Except for that one, most other short stories or drafts wouldn’t go past partial environment descriptions and small character conversations out of context. Today, most of my writing has been produced in the form of advanced personal note-taking, attributed to my inveterate academic readings.

Before I conclude, I want to give a special introduction to my feline companion, Miku. She is a 9-month old Persian cat who is very loving and special to me. She is also quite vocal when she wants something… ah, just like her owner.

Miku in her kitten form!
